The Nest Magallanes aims to be more than just a well-printed magazine with pretty pictures and witty articles.  It is the Barangay Magallanes business association’s commitment to chronicle the community’s joint journey together, filled with tales, anecdotes, jokes, lessons, hidden talents, suppressed memories - all YOUR stories - waiting to be told.

In this issue, you will notice that most of the articles, apart from the regular columns or features,  are written by just two writers: the publisher Tony A., and myself.  Our mission is to be a channel for the treasure trove of stories buried at present in memories, journals, digital as well as faded photographs…YOU are the storyteller, we are merely the scribes.

Inside each of Magallanes’ residents and stakeholder, whatever the age, gender, creed,  is a natural born storyteller, waiting to be released (Robin Moore).  Each person has his or her own unique story to tell. We all live in a network of stories, forging and celebrating a bond with each other even more enduring than blood.

We invite you all to share your stories of significance…for after all, storytelling is our obligation to our forebears, and to the next generation as well. Most stories matter…and they have the unique capability to empower and humanize…and heal and unite.  And in this day of uber rapid technology, people, institutions, brands that can tell the most compelling stories are able to command the most influence in the community too.

Author Vera Nazarian says that a well told story is a gift, and old storytellers never really die either - they disappear into their own tales.  As we all work towards being a kinder, happier society, let us freely share the stories we grew up with, or learned, or authored - and share the humanity we were all entrusted with.

Cheers, Dolores!
